Panel blinds vs vertical blinds

Their differences can be found in temperature control and cost.

Vertical blinds are generally more affordable than panel blinds but there is some variation depending on fabric and size.

They can also be styled with other window coverings such as curtains or venetians.

Venetian blinds are a popular window treatment choice because they are practical, stylish and provide both privacy and light control. Venetian blinds consist of horizontal slats that can be pivoted to control the amount of light passing through the window opening.

There are two main types of Venetian blinds:

Wooden venetian blinds are a classic choice and can be stained or painted to match any décor. However, they are not suited to long-term moisture exposure or high humidity in areas like the bathroom, kitchen or laundry.

Aluminium venetian blinds are durable, won’t warp with moisture and can be wiped clean with a cloth. The downside of aluminium venetian blinds is that it can take longer to clean as you’ll need to wipe down or vacuum each individual slate.

How much do Roller Blinds cost?

The cost of roller blinds varies depending on the size and type of roller blind. The most important determining factor is the size of the window. Another factor to consider is the type of fabric you choose as this can also determine the cost.

What is the difference between Roller Blinds & Vertical Blinds?

Roller blinds are made from a single piece of material that is wrapped around a roller at the top. This is mounted on a track so that the blind can be raised and lowered.

Vertical blinds are panels of fabric, plastic or metal held together by chains, cords or tapes. The panels can be rotated to open up the window completely, or turned to one side to cover it partially.

The main difference between roller blinds and vertical blinds is that vertical blinds have more panels which can be opened and closed to control the light and privacy entering a room, while roller blinds usually have one large panel which covers the entire window. Roller blinds are also easier to clean as they can be unrolled.

Which Roller Blinds are best?

The two most popular types of roller blinds are standard and blackout. Standard roller blinds have a translucent fabric that allows some light to pass through, while blackout roller blinds have a fabric that blocks out all light.

Both types of roller blinds are easy to install and can be operated with a simple pull cord. They are also affordable and durable, making them a great choice for any home or office.

Will sheer curtains block sunlight?

It doesn't have the same thermal insulation benefit that you will find with more heavier fabrics such as blockout curtains.

View our sheer curtains.

How to clean sheer curtains?

Sheer curtains can be cleaned by hand-washing them in cold water with a mild detergent. Be sure to avoid scrubbing the fabric too hard, or it may become damaged. Rinse the curtains well and air-dry them away from direct sunlight. If necessary, you may also use a steamer to remove any wrinkles or creases in the fabric.

View our sheer curtains.

Which curtains are best for your bedroom?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as the best curtains for your windows will depend on a variety of factors including the size and shape of your windows, the type of light that comes into your home, and your personal taste.

If you want to let in more natural light, opt for sheer curtains or window treatments that allow light to pass through. If you want to block out sunlight, create insulation or maintain a private space in your home, choose thick curtains with a blockout backing to provide more insulation.

It’s also important to consider the style of curtains that will complement your décor. Curtains can bring something to the room which may be lacking - whether that’s warmth, light control, privacy or bringing a touch of elegance to the room.

Various curtain fabrics, colours and lengths also need to be considered. A popular choice right now is to pair heavier curtains with sheers to provide day and nighttime privacy, temperature control, and filtered light in the room during the daytime.
